PHS Speech and Debate Team

Here you will find all the information about the Panyarat High School Speech and Debate Team.

At Panyarat High School, Debate is one of our activities that we fully support the students and have an on-going training through out the year.

On July 23, 2016, we hosted a debating workshop at Panyarat High School sponsored by European Union. Chula University, Thammasat University, and Mahidiol University International College came to train students from Panyarat High School, Patumwan Demonstration School, Assumption College, and university students who are new to debate. The workshop broke into three sessions--Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced.

The Thailand High School League 2015 involves the following eleven schools--Anglo Singapore International School, Assumption College Bangrak,Ekkamai International School, Keerapat International School, Patumwan Demonstration School, Sacred Hearts Convent, Sarass Ektra, Panyarat High School, Thai Chinese International School, Triam Udom Suksa, and Wells International School along with the following universities--Abac, Chula, KMUTT, Mahidiol, and Thammasat.

The league is specifically designed as developmental and focuses on the newer talent entering the debate community. The rules follow the All-Asians Debating style with an emphasis on structure and creating argument as opposed to the minutiae of debate technique. 

The teams debated the motions This House should ban guns in USA and This House believes acts of terrorism should not be publicized. 

With over 18 teams from the different schools, Panyarat High School Team 5 composed of Siraprapa Wisitthipakdeekul, Thitiporn Siropowsuwankul, Phovisarut Sukkrasanti, and Atiruj Udompote took First Place Team Newbies. 

The Panyarat High School Team 1 of Duangporn Sirikulwattananon, Nichakul Akkaragumtorn, and Pacharada Sakulsriprasert took First Overall of the Tournament.


TNT--Thailand National Team Try-outs and newest member:  Tanchanok Sotajinda Matayom 3.  The PHS Debate team sent four members to try-out for the National Team on November 15, 2015.

Claret Hosts 2013 Asian Debate Championship


Claret School of Quezon City is hosting the Asian Schools Debate Championship (ASDC) this May.  ASDC is the largest and most prestigious high school debate tournament in Asia, featuring 450 of the best and the brightest debaters and public speakers in the region. Claret won the bid as the first Philippine high school to host the event last June 4, 2012.

Dubbed "Claret Asian Schools Debate Championship: Experience the Full Circle," and slated for May 15-21, 2013, the school’s bid was ratified by an overwhelming majority during the 2012 ASDC in Ipoh, Malaysia. The bid was presented by ASDC founder and top debater Dino S. de Leon from HS batch 2005. Mr. de Leon is also the Chief Adjudicator of the tournament and was the Convenor of the 2011 World Universities Debate Championship.

Claret School’s bid included a list of impressive social events such as an opening dinner and a break night by the Manila Bay overlooking Metro Manila.  Claret will also be the first ASDC to feature Philippine Cultural Night, and Filipino Food: Served Daily, social activities that aim to provide a cultural and gastronomic experience which debaters will never forget.
